Remedies for the aging face are the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures.

The face ages in a very predictable fashion. In the early to mid forties, the eye area starts to sag and creases on the side of the eye deepen, creating what are commonly called crow’s feet. Looseness in the lower eyelid allows the surrounding fatty tissue to protrude, giving a baggy, puffy, tired appearance to the eye. During this phase, the eyebrow can also begin to sag.

By the mid fifties, noticeable changes occur in the face, as well. The cheeks slide down, and fatty deposits once in the lower jaw drop below the jaw line, creating a jowl. This fullness across the jaw line erases the nice, sharp contour characteristic of a youthful face. As aging continues in the fifties and sixties, the skin becomes more lax and extra tissue accumulates in the neck and lower face. It is as if the skin is melting, like a wax candle held too close to the flame.

Fortunately, there are a number of surgical procedures that remove excess facial skin, tighten the deep muscular structures, and restore a more youthful contour to the face and neck.
